It’s our last CAN of 2019 and during this meeting we will be hearing from our very own Brittney Williams, Region 4 Suicide Prevention Coordinator. She will be talking to us about QPR, Question, Persuade, Respond. Suicide is a hard subject and many of us don’t know how to talk about it. After attending this workshop, you will know how to recognize and appropriately respond to someone who may be suicidal.
As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:
1) Recognize the warning signs of suicide
2) Know how to offer hope
3) Know how to get help and save a life
QPR is brought to you by The Family Tree, Jacob Crouch Suicide Prevention Services, and Acadiana Area Human Services District. Brittney Williams, Region IV Suicide Prevention Coordinator, is a QPR Certified Gatekeeper Instructor.
Seating limited. Registration required.
Gatekeepers will receive 2 educational hours, and QPR is a NBCC Provider.
This program is approved for 2.0 general contact hours of continuing education credit by the National Association of Social Workers – Louisiana Chapter as authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.
The CAN will be held Monday, Oct. 28th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Goodwill Community Training Center, 2435 W. Congress St., Lafayette.
