Ways to Work is a loan program that helps credit-challenged parents purchase a car. Borrowers can borrow
from $4,000 to $6,000 and must undergo an application process including attending a mandatory orientation. Orientations are held once a month at The Family Tree Office.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must be employed for at least 6 months
- Applicants must reside in Lafayette, Iberia, St. Landry, St. Martin, Acadia or Vermilion Parishes
- Applicants must be a parent who is involved in his or her child’s life
- Applicants must be willing and able to repay the loan
Loans are repaid over a two to two an a half year period
(or 24-30 months). The goals of the program are to remove transportation barriers to employment, increase self-sufficiency and reduce welfare dependency of credit-challenged families.
