Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is a free health program for
pregnant women who are having their first babies. Participants
receive in-home visits from registered nurses throughout their
pregnancies and until their children turn two years old. Nurses
assist parents with providing responsible and competent care,
engaging in good preventative health practices, and improving the
economic self-sufficiency of the family.
Participants will receive support to have healthy pregnancies and
healthy babies while learning how to become better parents. Nurses
also provide referrals for healthcare, childcare, job training,
continuing education and other support services.
NFP is implemented by the Louisiana Office of Public Health.
